On June 14, 2010, in a regularly scheduled meeting, the State Board of Education declared the attached list as critical academic shortage areas for the school year 2010-2011. There are some changes from last year's list, so please review carefully.
There is no longer a waiver for retired persons to return to work under a critical shortage area. For information about retirees returning to work, please contact the Arkansas Teacher Retirement System at 501-682-1517.
Teachers wishing to return to school for coursework in critical academic shortage areas should contact the Arkansas Department of Higher Education by phone at 501-371-2000 or by email to finaid@adhe.edu for information on student loan grants or forgiveness.
