Beginning July 1, the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) will use a new software system called Sharepoint to create and post commissioner's memos. While this will not create a big difference in the way commissioner's memos are accessed and read, the look and functionality will be slightly changed. The benefits of this system are that memos will be able to be searched by word and also filtered or sorted in various ways such as by date, by department, by the "attention" list and so forth.
Only memos posted on or after July 1 will be on the new system. All older memos will be available in the old format by linking to "Archived Memos."
While this system should not be difficult to adapt to, the communications office at ADE is providing a real-time, web-based training session at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 29. To take part in this training, log in from any computer to http://ardoe.na3.acrobat.com/ade. Registration is not necessary; however, the session is limited to the first 350 participants.
Those unable to participate on the 29th will be able to view the session beginning July 1 when they log onto the new commissioner's memo site from ArkansasEd.org. The training session will be recorded and posted at the top of the page for viewers to watch. Also posted there will be a training document that can be downloaded and printed.
