Due to an error in the course code booklet, a one-unit course of Advanced Placement (AP) United States Government and Politics may count toward the one-unit Civics requirement in Smart Core for current juniors and seniors. The error in the course code booklet has been addressed and will be corrected for the 2010-2011 school year. Please be aware that a committee of Arkansas teachers will be formed to develop a course syllabus combining course content from AP United States Government and Politics with student learning expectations from the Arkansas Civics and American Government courses. Once developed, this syllabus can be submitted by school districts to the College Board as the AP United States Government and Politics course, and this course may be used to satisfy the Civics requirement in Smart Core.
