The Southwestern Regional Meeting of the College Board will be held in Little Rock at the Excelsior Hotel on February 3-5, 1999. Because this event rotates throughout the region, it is held in Little Rock every six years. We are delighted that it is again coming to Little Rock. We encourage you, your counselors, your Pre-AP and AP staff, and any other interested persons to attend.
"Achieving equity . . . . emphasizing excellence" is the theme for the three-day meeting that will feature eight pre-conference workshops (free with registration) on Wednesday and a full range of concurrent sessions on Thursday and Friday. Sessions and workshops will deal with a variety of topics, financial aid, college admissions, letters of recommendations, the AP Program, Middle School Climate, Everything You Love to Hate About the NCAA Process, etc.
Each high school in the state should have received a registration packet in the mail over Christmas. If you have not received one you may call The College Board at 1-800-999-9139 and ask for registration materials or information. Also, preliminary information is attached.
We are truly fortunate to be able to host this convention in our state. This is a unique opportunity for Arkansas. Again we urge you, your staff and interested patrons to attend.
