In an attempt to better address the concerns expressed by officials of school districts as they operate within the Arkansas Public School Computer Network (APSCN), Michael Hipp, Director of the Department of Information Systems (DIS), and I have agreed to a reorganization.
Effective Monday, January 25, 1999, the management and administrative functions of APSCN became the sole responsibility of the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE). All employees working exclusively on this project now report to ADE.
We anticipate the ability to better control the day-to-day operations and, hopefully, this reorganization will improve the efficiency and effectiveness of service provided to you through APSCN.
We will continue to depend heavily on the expertise of employees at DIS who were not affected by this organization to supplement the work of APSCN personnel. Also, they can leverage for us vast amounts of technical resources to support those areas of operation that, over time, require immediate and long-range problem resolution.
Be assured that all of us are completely committed to making this project successful.
