The instructions and forms for completing the 1998-99 school year reports for children with disabilities exiting the educational system and the changes in placement of children with disabilities to a less restrictive environment are attached. This information, along with the data provided on the December 1, 1998, child count, will enable the Arkansas Department of Education, Special Education, to compile the required state reports that must be submitted to the Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP), U. S. Department of Education.
Changes in the Exiting Report for 1998-99
Beginning with the 1998-99 school year, children with disabilities ages 14-21 who exited special education will be collected by race/ethnicity in addition to age, disability category and basis of exit. Table III will contain the number of children with disabilities by race/ethnicity who exited special education during the 1998-99 school year. For a definition of each of the race/ethnicity categories, please refer to the attached instructions.
