Beginning September 8, 1998, all Director's Communications (Memos) will be distributed via the Department of Education World Wide Web Home Page - arkedu.state.ar.us. For approximately one month, we will continue to provide one paper copy of each memo to districts and cooperatives through the weekly mail packet. The purpose of this dual system is to assure that information will not be lost in this transition period.
This new memo system maintains the basic format of Director's Memos with one exception. Attachments will be accessed through application software rather than being part of the text of the memo. Attachments will be posted in Microsoft Word or Excel format depending on the nature of the document. Use the mouse to click on the file name in the attachment box to view the content of the attachment. This should access the needed software package.
The initial screen in the Director's Memos section shows a color-coded table that includes the subject, memo number, date and section. The table can be sorted by any of these fields. To view and print the full text of the memo, click on the subject field.
We believe this method of electronic communication will be more efficient and cost effective as well as provide more access to the information.
