The Arkansas Department of Education, Child Nutrition Unit is pleased to announce the Healthy School Meals Environment, Request for Proposals (RFP). Proposals from $5,000 to $25,000 per school district may be submitted.
The grants will be awarded on a competitive basis for development of a district Healthy School Meals Environment Plan, which includes:
· Staff development for food service personnel, teachers, and school staff as it relates to the Healthy School Meals Initiative and the Dietary Guidelines for Americans
· Nutrition education activities for students, staff, and community that include cafeteria-classroom linkages to promote lifelong healthy eating
Proposals must be postmarked no later than Tuesday, December 15, 1998, or delivered to the Arkansas Department of Education, Child Nutrition Unit no later than 4:30 p.m. on December 15, 1998.
A technical assistance and question/answer session concerning grant requirements and proposal writing will be held at 2:45 p.m. on November 10, 1998 at the conclusion of the Team Nutrition Health Conference.
Attendance at this technical assistance session in no way obligates you or your district to submit a grant proposal, but may be very beneficial for those who are interested in submitting a proposal.
To provide a more cost-effective proposal several small districts may choose to formulate one multi-district grant proposal. In a multi-district proposal, one district will be required to accept financial and administrative reporting responsibility for the total grant.
