The Arkansas Department of Education (ADE), Southwest Educational Development Laboratory (SEDL), and the Southeast Comprehensive Assistance Center (SECAC) will host a statewide conference that will feature model programs and technical assistance for the Comprehensive School Reform Demonstration application process. The purpose of the Comprehensive School Reform Demonstration program is to encourage schools that need to improve student achievement, especially Title I schools, to adopt sound comprehensive school reform models. All school reform models listed in the "Catalog of School Reform Models" will be invited. Those accepting the Arkansas invitation will present at the conference December 11, 1998.
The conference will be held at the Arlington Hotel in Hot Springs on December 10 and 11, 1998. Enclosed is a flyer including the workshop agenda and registration form. Please note there is no registration fee for the conference.
Even if your district does not plan to submit an application, your district can still benefit by attending the two-day conference to learn more about the components of comprehensive reform, the reform models available, and how to evaluate those models. We look forward to your attendance.
