School officials recognize that transportation is one of the most vital and visible support systems for public school students in Arkansas. More than 4,400 school buses are driven daily over 250,000 miles to provide safe transportation to and from school for approximately 300,000 students.
Accordingly, Act 805 of 1995 designated the first week of each school year as "School Bus Safety Week."
