Arkansas public schools are required to hold monthly fire evacuation drills and we strongly recommend that your teachers take the time at the beginning of school to discuss and explain the expected procedures for those drills. The evacuation diagrams posted in each classroom should be discussed during this training.

Attached is a copy of our "Tri-Annual Fire Drill Report" form that we are currently using. Please copy this form and use it to report the results of each month's school fire drill. These forms are to be submitted to School Plant Services three times each school year as follows:

September 20 results from your first fire drill;
February 20 results from your October, November, December, January, and possibly February fire drills;
June 20 results from your March, April, and May fire drills.

The intended purpose of the early reporting date of September 20 is to ensure that each school conducts a fire drill within the first few weeks after school begins. This will benefit all students and teachers, but especially those students new to a school or a building.
