The Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) is required to report annually on the number of language minority and limited English proficient (LEP) students enrolled in Arkansas public schools to the United States Department of Education. This data is used to develop language appropriate services for LEP students and to assist ADE in planning for the needs of this student population. DATA ON THE NUMBER OF LEP STUDENTS ENROLLED IN YOUR DISTRICT IS USED TO DETERMINE STATE FUNDING AVAILABLE TO YOU FOR SERVING LEP STUDENTS.
There are paper attachments to this memo (instructions, survey, and reporting forms); these attachments will be delivered in the next bulk mail. Please note that the reporting form has changed from last year, and includes several new categories of data required by the federal government.
If your district does not currently enroll LEP students, please indicate on the face of the survey form that the survey data is not applicable to you this school year, and RETURN IT TO THE ADDRESS BELOW.
