This training will be available for 20 classroom teachers in Grades 7-12 (two teachers from each school district are preferred, ten teams). The training will be held at the RIVERFRONT HILTON HOTEL, NORTH LITTLE ROCK, on NOVEMBER 1-2, 1999. The two-day workshop will include specific training in the activities and skills required to use GET REAL ABOUT AIDS effectively. Teams will consist of two teachers from a school district, one of which MUST BE CURRENTLY TEACHING HEALTH EDUCATION in any 7th-12th grade class.

GET REAL ABOUT AIDS is a research-based curriculum that is promoted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). GET REAL ABOUT AIDS has been evaluated and proven successful in reducing risky behaviors in adolescents that can lead to HIV, sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and pregnancy.

The following will be provided FREE to teachers accepted into the workshop: Curriculum materials for GET REAL ABOUT AIDS ($495), hotel, meals, travel, and up to 12 professional development hours.

Since funding provides for the training of ONLY 20 teachers, it is important that teachers sign up as soon as possible. To REGISTER for the workshop or for further information, please contact KATHLEEN COURTNEY at 501-324-9740.
