The Arkansas Department of Education will hold five (5) public hearings to consider revisions of the Standards for Accreditation Arkansas Public Schools, Revised May 1993 in accordance with Arkansas Code Annotated 6-15-202. Since the last revisions, laws, rules and regulations and State Board of Education actions have caused several areas of the Standards to become out of date. These revisions reflect current initiatives. The hearings will be held on Tuesday, November 30, 1999, from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. The proposed document will be mailed to all superintendents in the regular mail from the Department of Education or refer to the revised copy attached to this memo. A copy of these revisions may also be obtained by accessing our website - http://arkedu.state.ar.us.
If a person plans to submit any wording changes at the public hearings, we request these comments be presented in writing at that time. Written comments from the public will be accepted until Friday, December 3, 1999. (See the attachment for the location of the hearings.)
