The purpose of this memorandum is to provide information regarding the electronic transmission of the December 1, 1999, Child Count for special education. The Special Education Data System that has been used for years is, in addition to being antiquated, not Y2K compliant. A two-pronged approach will be used to address both the issue of updating the entire Special Education Data System and the immediate need to collect data for the December 1, 1999, Child Count.
1. The Special Education Data System will be redesigned to run on APSCN. It is anticipated that the system will be in place by April 2000.
2. To generate an electronic transmission of the December 1, 1999, Child Count, one (1) additional screen on the APSCN student management system must be completed for each special education student.

You will then download the December 1, 1999, Child Count Instructions listed under the "How To" Procedures.
