The State Board of Education has approved the Charter School application materials for the 1999-2000 petition cycle. These materials are available through the Department of Education Attorney's Office. Please contact Theresa Wallent at 501-682-4227 and specify whether the application is for a conversion charter school or for an open-enrollment charter school.
Applicants should note that the deadline for the Letter of Intent is November 1, 1999. The letter is to be sent by certified mail to the local board of the public school district where the proposed charter will be located. A copy shall also be sent by certified mail to the Department of Education, Charter School Office.
As part of the Letter of Intent, the charter applicant shall include evidence of notice for a public hearing scheduled in the community to be served by the proposed charter school.
Applicants should also note that the deadline for all applications materials is December 15, 1999. These application materials shall be sent to the local board of the public school district where the proposed charter school will be located. Copies of these materials shall also be sent to the Department of Education, according to application instructions.
