The Arkansas Department of Education, Special Education will sponsor spring regional meetings of the Arkansas Collaborative Educator (ACE) Network. The ACE Network serves educators dedicated to improving collaboration between general and special education for the benefit of ALL students. Membership in the ACE Network is free. All members of the ACE Network and other interested educators are invited to attend the regional meetings. There is an attachment below that shows the meeting dates and locations.

This year's meetings will provide an overview of Differentiated Instruction in the Mixed-Ability Classrooms. This overview will focus on planning and carrying out varied approaches to content, instructional strategies and products in response to student differences in readiness, interest, and learning needs in the general education classroom. Information on social skill instruction, Co-Teaching, Indirect Services and modifications for the general education classroom will also be shared. In addition, participants will be given opportunities to network to share ideas and suggestions for addressing common concerns identified by the attendees.

Districts that choose to participate are encouraged to send their personnel in teams of general and special educators. Administrators and other district staff are also invited to attend.

The ACE Network regional meetings, which include a networking luncheon, are provided to districts at no charge. Reimbursement for one general and one special educator per building will be available, if needed. To qualify for the reimbursement participants must attend the entire session. All additional expenses will be the responsibility of the participating school district.

There will be limited space available, so reservations will be on a first-come, first-served basis. If you have questions about the training, please contact Rose Merry Kirkpatrick at 1-800-482-8437 or (501) 633-3835 or by email at rkirkpatrick@arkedu.k12.ar.us.

The attached registration form must be completed and returned no later than February 4, 2000. Confirmation notices will be sent to all registered attendees. Send the attached registration form to:
