The Arkansas Humanities Council announces continuation of the education mini-grant program to support imaginative, humanities-based K-12 programs in social studies, English language arts, foreign languages, and English as a Second Language. The maximum amount of a grant award is $2,000. Education mini-grants are funded by the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation and administered by the Arkansas Humanities Council.
The program is overseen by a committee of K-12 and postsecondary educators. When deciding which education mini-grant applications to approve, committee members will look for projects that have the following characteristics:
. a direct relationship to student learning
. a clear instructional focus
. a demonstrated relationship to Arkansas Department of Education curriculum frameworks
. an emphasis on activities at the building or classroom level
The next deadline for applications is March 1, 2000. Other scheduled deadlines are April 1, May 1, July 1, August 1, and November 1, 2000.
