The Arkansas Department of Education (ADE), Special Education Unit has had numerous requests from superintendents, building principals and local special education supervisors, for technical assistance in the areas of identification and programming for children with attention deficit disorder and emotional disturbance. In response to these requests, the ADE, Special Education Unit and the Arkansas Special Education Resource Center have arranged for training to address these areas. The purposes of this memorandum are to make you aware of upcoming training and to request that district personnel who are directly responsible for services for this population of children be permitted to attend.
We are aware that districts must be cognizant of the amount of time staff are out of the District. However, we ask that you consider the importance of the information that will be provided during these two days and permit relevant staff to attend. Professional Development credit will be given for clock hours of training attended.
