The purpose of this memorandum is to transmit the Arkansas Department of Education Regulations Governing the Implementation of the Appropriation for Special Education Catastrophic Occurrences. The regulations were originally passed as emergency regulations in May 1999. The final version was approved by the State Board of Education at its February 14, 2000, meeting and reviewed, with no objections, by the Legislative Council's Rules and Regulations Review Committee on March 2, 2000.
Applications and instructions for reimbursement for special education catastrophic occurrences will be provided to local school districts in mid-April. The deadline for submitting applications is May 15, 2000.
