Act 1097 of 1995 specifies that school districts teach current Arkansas laws of particular relevance to students in Grades 7 through 12. Ninth grade civics and twelfth grade American government are targeted courses for this purpose, but instruction in the laws may be incorporated into any courses within these grades.
Decisions of the 1999 Arkansas General Assembly resulted in changes to laws affecting students. The Department of Education has issued a newly formatted and completely revised compilation of these laws. The revised 2000 compilation is now available at http://arkedu.state.ar.us/arlaws.htm on the Department web site. A print copy has also been placed in each education service cooperative. School districts should completely replace the previously disseminated compilation with the 2000 version. Attached to this memorandum is a revised Table of Contents.
