The Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act (SDFSCA) of 1994, Title IV, provides funding for drug and violence prevention programs for local educational agencies (LEAs). A total of $3,257,446 has been allocated for Arkansas' Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities grant FY 2000, of which $2,074,933 will be awarded on a non-competitive basis for the 70% Base Grant. Funds will be distributed on the basis of student enrollment as of October 1, 1999. The remaining 30% grant funds will be awarded to LEAs with the greatest need for additional funds for drug and violence prevention programs.
The deadline date for the 70% Base Grant Application is February 9, 2001. Any funds not allocated to LEAs by this date will be awarded to the LEAs with the greatest need.
