The purpose of this memorandum is to provide details of the first allocation of Qualified Zone Academy Bonds (QZABs) and to notify you that the following information has been posted to the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) website http://arkedu.state.ar.us.

The ADE will begin accepting applications for QZABs on February 1, 2001. These applications will be presented to the State Board of Education (SBE) for approval at the April 9, 2001 meeting. The ADE Loans and Bonds Unit will notify each district in writing of the amount of the allocation awarded following the SBE review. The total first allocation will be limited to no more than the $4.625 million authorized for 1998.
