This is to inform affected school districts of hearings to be held by the State Board of Education under Act 60 of the Second Extraordinary Session of 2003.
Seven (7) Arkansas school districts failed to file voluntary petitions with another district for voluntary administrative consolidation or annexation. Those districts are Biggers-Reyno, Delaplaine, Lake View, Holly Grove, Huttig, Sparkman, and Carthage.
Under Act 60, it is the duty of the State Board of Education to administratively consolidate each of the non-petitioning districts. By way of this memo and the attachment, all districts are hereby notified of the time, date and place of the hearings before the Arkansas State Board of Education. In addition, the seven (7) non-petitioning districts, as well as all districts contiguous to, or in the same county with, the non-petitioning districts are being notified by certified mail.
Under procedures adopted by the State Board of Education, these matters will be heard beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, May 17, 2004, in the Auditorium of the State Department of Education, #4 Capitol Mall, Little Rock, AR. Any written comments must be received by the 4:30 p.m. on Monday, May 10, 2004. For your use and information, a copy of the hearing procedure is attached.
