This memorandum provides information regarding the satellite downlink of a conference sponsored by the National Association of State Directors of Special Education (NASDSE). The teleconference, “Ensuring Appropriate Assessment for all Students with Special Needs” will be broadcast on September 29, 2004, from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM CDT.
Assessing students with disabilities presents challenges to both general and special educators. The No Child Left Behind Act has intensified the need to provide quality, large-scale assessments that inform instruction. This conference will focus on strategies for assessing difficult-to-access children who need alternate assessments or are considered to be “gap kids.” The presenter, Ms. Rachel Quenemoen, has extensive experience and expertise in providing technical assistance to states in these important areas. Strategies currently being utilized in states will be featured.
Attached is the technical information for downlinking the broadcast, as well as information about the presenter. There is no fee for accessing this teleconference. Individuals wishing to view this teleconference will need to check with the educational services cooperative in the local area to see if the co-op will downlink this teleconference. Any group that has the capability to downlink may do so free of charge.
