The Arkansas 85th General Assembly has created the Academic Facilities Immediate Repair Program (Act 2206 of 2005) to address immediate school facilities repairs. The Division of Public School Academic Facilities and Transportation (Division) will provide school districts (based on the school district’s academic facilities wealth index) with state financial participation for eligible repair projects.
To be eligible for funding, the school district must meet the following criteria: 1) the Division must receive the application by July 1, 2005; 2) the condition for which the repair is needed must have been in existence on January 1, 2005; 3) the facility condition index (FCI) of the building must be less than 65%; and 4) repair projects must include one or more of the following: a) heating, ventilation and air condition systems; b) floors; c) roofs; d) sewage systems; e) water supplies; f) asbestos abatement; g) fire alarm systems; h) exterior doors; i) emergency exit or egress passageway lighting; j) academic program or facility accessibility for individuals with disabilities; and k) any other building system necessary to satisfy life-safety code requirements as determined by the Division.
