The purpose of this Commissioner’s Memo is to provide information regarding the satellite downlink of a conference sponsored by the National Association of State Directors of Special Education (NASDSE). The teleconference: “Making the Grade: Effective High Schools for All Students will be broadcast on May 3, 2006, from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 CDT.
The presenters will focus on the characteristics of high schools that are effective for all students, including students with disabilities. These characteristics were identified through research conducted through The International Center for Leadership in Education and the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO). Effective models will be used to help illustrate the promising practices employed by highly successful schools. The presenters will report the results of the research and focus on what works in the successful high schools of today.
Attached is the technical information to downlink the broadcast, as well as, information about the presenters. There is no fee for accessing this teleconference. Individuals wishing to view this teleconference will need to check with the local educational services cooperative to see if the co-op will downlink this teleconference. Any group that has the capability to downlink may do so free of charge.
