In support of the Comprehensive School Improvement Model for schools in School Improvement Year 3, 4 or 5, the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) has set training dates for the summer. Although all plans are not finalized, schools in Year 3, 4 or 5 should put these dates on the calendar for summer training. Attached is a chart with information about the number of days and projected staff that will attend the training for each area. All trainings will be held in the Little Rock area. Additional information regarding exact location and times will be distributed as soon as possible.
July 14, 2006: Orientation Session
One-day orientation for Co-op Teacher Center Coordinators, Co-op Literacy and Math Specialists, and ADE staff
July 17-21: School Training Session
July 24-28: School Training Session
Schools in School Improvement Year 3, 4 or 5 should make plans for school teams to attend training during one of the two School Training Session weeks listed above. School team members must attend the same week of training. The number of days in the week varies, depending on the focus area for that staff member. Literacy and math specialists from the educational cooperatives should also plan to attend one session of training. Availability is limited for each week and spaces will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Schools that do not make reservations by June 1 will be assigned a week. A registration form is attached to this Commissioner’s Memo. Please return it by mail or fax, no later than June 1, 2006, to:
