The revised Arkansas English Language Proficiency Curriculum Framework (2006) is now posted on the Arkansas Department of Education website at the following URL: http://arkansased.org/teachers/pdf/eng_proficiency_062106.pdf.
Beginning in the 2006-2007 school year, all instruction involving limited English proficient (LEP) students in grades K-12 shall be aligned with this framework. This document supercedes earlier frameworks for teaching LEP students.
A videoconference will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2006, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., to review the new framework document and to address questions regarding the assessment of LEP students on the state Benchmark Examinations and the new English language proficiency assessment (ELPA).
All English as a second language program (ESL) coordinators are encouraged to attend this videoconference at a local videoconference site. Please see the current list of videoconference sites attached to this memo.
