The Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) Special Education Unit will host two technical assistance training sessions (one in the West and one in the East) on Fiscal Year (FY) 2006-2007 Catastrophic Occurrences student identification, programming, and cost tracking.

The West session will be held in Russellville, AR on October 10, 2006, at the Ross Pendergraft Library and Technology Center, Room 300, on the campus of Arkansas Tech University (see attached map). The East session will be held in Forrest City, AR on October 11, 2006, at the Forrest City Civic Center, 1335 North Washington. Each session will begin at 10:00 a.m. and conclude by 4:00 p.m. Lunch will be the participant’s responsibility.

Attendance by local special education supervisory staff is strongly encouraged for any school district contemplating a claim for Catastrophic Occurrences in FY 2006-2007. Pre-registration on http://www.arswis.info is encouraged to track participant training hours. Training materials will be available for downloading on the Special Education website http://arksped.k12.ar.us in the MySped Resource under the Support tab on October 6, 2006.
