The Southeast World History Association, The Old State House Museum, and Arkansas Tech University are sponsoring a free World History Workshop on October 18, 2008, from 9:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at The Old State House Museum in Little Rock. This workshop is funded in part by the Arkansas Humanities Council.
Held in conjunction with the 2008 annual meeting of the Southeast World History Association, the workshop is designed to deepen participants' understanding of world history and, at the same time, assist participants with teaching in the field. The workshop will engage collaboratively college/university faculty and area school teachers through small groups exploring the Arkansas K-8 Social Studies Curriculum Framework (2006), focusing on the standards for History.
As part of the program, each participating teacher will receive a notebook binder with an assortment of world history materials, to include maps, lesson plans, timelines, and a copy of the Arkansas Social Studies Standards.
An e-mail to Dr. H. Micheal Tarver including name, address, and a desire to attend the workshop will suffice for a completed registration form. For more information, see the attachment or contact Dr. Tarver at 479-968-0265 or mtarver@atu.edu.
