The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Amendments of 1997 requires that specific disciplinary information be submitted to the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs as an annual data reporting requirement. These data requirements became effective with the 1998-99 school year. The state cumulative report is due November 1, 1999.
In order for you to report the data in the manner in which it is required, the reporting forms are being provided to you at this time. Please read the instructions for completing the forms very carefully. In Section A the data are reported by disability category and in Section B the same data are reported by ethnicity. The Special Education Office is working with APSCN to determine if these elements can be entered into your APSCN system files and a report generated electronically from those files. However, in the meantime, we encourage you to devise your own system for maintaining this information. It will be virtually impossible to recreate the data at the close of the school year if you have not maintained records in accordance with the required reporting elements.
Please remember that the Arkansas Department of Education did NOT create this reporting requirement.
